CoraB x Baubles Red
Red is known as one of the most iconic breakup albums of all time. The album is titled for the passion and tumultuous emotions of lost love. Her first big breakup left her with feelings of “intense love, intense frustration, jealousy, (and) confusion” The title track explores this idea of how big the feelings are in these types of relationships and how they are “burning red.”
Her Red Era was marked by a distinctive 2010s retro styled quirkiness and the cementing of her iconic red lip. It has a mix of youthful expression and a journey out of the more immature relationships she was accustomed to. For the piece, the artist was inspired by the doodles of a young woman in all red and included imagery not only from this album, but other symbols that would become distinctive to Swift. In the background, there are odes to her country roots such as a cowboy hat and boots as her microphone and guitar. Other symbols like sparkles and cats were included to bring together some of Swift’s favorite symbols. She is painted in the iconic red heart glasses that became a staple of the styling for the era.
