CoraB x Baubles Debut

Taylor Swift’s self-titled first album, also known as her Debut Era, inspired the styling for this piece. Instead of the traditional portrait, the artist chose to take interpretive inspiration from the imagery of the original photoshoot and included her white dress and cowgirl boots amongst a field of lavender. This is indisputably Swift’s most country genre album. During the writing of her debut album she made a move to Nashville, Tennessee to further her connections for her career. Swift was rejected as many thought the adult population would not be interested in hearing the music of a teenage girl. During this time, she began learning to play the guitar and writing her own music. While writing the album, her producer gave her a great deal of freedom for a debut artist saying they only wanted to be there to edit and leave Swift to create. The tracks “Teardrops On My Guitar” and “Our Song” were certified platinum. With the latter, Swift became the youngest person to single-handedly write and sing a Hot Country Songs number one.

The Debut Era is all about the youth and excitement of first experiences, first love, and first heartbreak that come along with growing up. The piece is meant to evoke that same innocence and brightness with the white costuming and Taylor stopped in a wild floral field. Her boots are surrounded by lavender florals to connect with her other eras and two bright blue butterflies to evoke the imagery of the original album cover.

This piece was created by Cora B. Gallery for the Eras Collection in conjunction with Baubles by Bella Bella. It currently hangs in their foyer installment as part of the Cora B. Gallery artist in residency for the store. The piece is for sale along with the rest of the collection in store and on this website.
